Gunfight rages in Shopian village | KNO

A gunfight broke out between militants and Government forces on Friday evening in Kilora village of South Kashmir's Shopian district.

A police officer told that army's 44RR and SOG launched a search and cordon operation at Kiloora village following specific information about the presence of some militants. As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot amid fired some warning shots, the hiding militants opened fire trigerrring off an gunfight. Uncomfirmed reports said that one militant has been killed and his body was recovered along with weapon. However there was no immediate official confirmation with regard to the killing.

When reports last came in firing has been stopped but the siege continued along with the additional reinforcement.
